Marbella the best know city on the Costa del Sol with its world wide reputation for luxury shopping, five star restaurants international marina and it fabulous beaches. Marbella is a modern upbeat city and home to many personalities who prefer its established quality living to the brasher, in your face, Puerto Banus which is literally five minutes drive on the hotel and restaurant lined highway that connects these two famous resorts.


There is another more interesting side to Marbella, the fabled 'Orange Square', which is located just off the main street in the older “Casca Antigua” district and is where you will find the 16th century town hall and tourist office and visitor information centre. The old town is a hive of narrow cobbled streets filled with boutiques, coffee houses and intimate bistro restaurants, in its heart is Orange Square, "La Plaza de Los Naranjos", in Spanish, with beautiful century old buildings, shops, art galleries, and top quality restaurants this area is hectic day and night.


In the old town it is possible to hire a horse and carriage which will give you a private tour of both the old and new town and in recent years there has been the addition of a small tourist mini train that offers the same service but in less romantic style.


Across the main road from the old town and through the Marbella gardens down the Paseo del Mar you reach the delightful Avenida del Mar considered to be one of the most delightful promenades on the Costa del Sol where couples stroll day and long into the night. This promenade has some superb Spanish and ethnic restaurants and bars all with delightful terraces where you can dine at night under the Mediterranean stars before dancing until dawn in one of the many luxury nightspots.


There are two large parks in Marbella which provide space and quiet to relax away from the beach, in addition the amphitheatre in Constitution Park offers concerts and plays in the summer. With its famous casinos’, clubs’ and all its sporting activities there are few places to compare with Marbella.
